Your business card needs to grab attention and stand out from other cards to make sure it is seen and does it’s job of reminding it’s new owner to take action. Whatever that action may be, from calling you, visiting your website or informing and educating.

Business cards can come in all shapes and sizes, the more common being the small rectangular size that business card wallets are made for – through to the not so common postcard size which allows for more information and personality. We always recommend putting a headshot on your card if you want people to remember who your are – there is nothing more frustrating than finding an old business card with contact details, and not being able to remember who they are, where you met them, or why you even have their card in the first place.

Poster Design Matters

The primary purpose of a poster is to promote a show, event or product. It needs to catch the eye of passers-by and grab their attention. The call to action (what you want the viewer to do) needs to be clear, concise and easy to follow. These days, that normally takes the form of visiting a website, but it could be asking them to call a telephone number or buy a product.

Where the posters are being displayed also has a bearing on the design – if it is being viewed by people passing in cars then the text needs to be big and bold, less so for pedestrians. The size of the text is also affected by the distance the poster will be viewed from. All of these things are considered before we even get into the actual design.

The design should reflect the style of the product, show or event – is it a fun event, or a dark and mysterious show? We use custom shot and stock photography to build emotion in the mind of the viewers, so they know what to expect when they turn up at the event.

Logo Design

A logo is such a difficult thing to get right. It has to represent the company or organisation without any other context around it. It needs to very clearly show who you are, what you do and the ethos of the people behind the logo.

Colours also make a big difference, they all have different meanings and evoke different moods. The personality of your logo will define the people you attract.

Full Branding

At Drayson Design, we realise that sometimes a design is going to be part of a new, or existing brand, which could involve many different items, all styled in the same way to form a cohesive brand.

We can work with existing style guides, or create new branding from scratch with as many different elements as needed. Each design is carefully considered to be part of the whole package.

One brand that we took on for a rebranding was Gordon’s Magic – which included the website, and many print items. The client had a large stock of business cards, so these will be re-designed once stock levels get low. You can see some of the branding below.
