You do keep backups of your website right? Most website owners don’t, but it is really important to ensure that if your website is hacked, defaced, or simply has a technical glitch, you can be back up and running within the hour.

You should always keep a local copy of your website, and also one offsite – we recommend using the cloud for this. There are also two main ways of backing up your website.

• At regular intervals, backing up all the files and database.

Regular backups are essential for websites that don’t change very often. At a minimum you should backup the database once a day and the files once a week. We recommend a 30 day retention, so you always have the last 30 days worth of backups, which will include 4 copies of your files.

Real-time incremental backups are perfect for E-Commerce sites that take orders, and websites that change regularly. Incremental means that only the files or database records that change are backed up, and they are done immediately, as soon as the change is made. This is to ensure you never lose a sale or changed content since the last full backup. Incremental backups are the quickest and safest way to backup your website.
